I've got more to add...(currently am actually in Cancun-after being in Campeche, then Merida, then Valladolid)...however, Blogspot is being a pain and not letting me add more phots...so here's Campeche. The posting date is when I arrived there.)
CAMPECHE, Chiapas, MX
Just arrived in Campeche...GET ME TO THE WATER!! Overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Getting good with the timer on my camera! :-)
The center square in Campeche...one of my favorites!
This monument was just down the street from Fuerte San Miguel in Campeche...says "Todo lo puede el esfuerzo de un pueblo." ... essentially meaning, "All is doable with the effort of a town". Really cool way to enter the town of Campeche.

I really enjoyed Campeche...you've probably never heard of it, right? It's not high on the tourist itinerary...but so far one of my favorite little towns. Such a great feeling there: Great weather, the water, the market, the people, the colors, the food...everything very enjoyable. Dan, a Canadian I met in Merida, related a saying that he heard..."North Americas live inside while the rest of the world lives outside". This is very true in Campeche...the whole family would come out at night to stroll the center park, go to church, take a run, walk, bike, skateboard on the malecon (gulf boardwalk) or take their kids to the park. It seemed like every family in Campeche was at the park. Performances pop up in the park on a regular basis.
Campeche was fun, familiar and very relaxing!
They know how to do fruit in Campeche! As well as dulce. Everything in the above picture (except the pinatas) is CANDY!!!
Did you ever wonder about the plastic chickens on keychains...well, wonder no more! (for those who were at Parkway for my flying chickens spirit activity...these photos are for you!)
