Okay...there's tons more to Lima, Peru..I've been here for a week as of today. I've tried to get going, but I keep meeting great people, who I'll introduce you to when I finish this post...so I've stayed. I'll finish this post maybe later tonight. For now, after updating for the last 3 hours, I'm beat. Gonna go take a nap. So until later.... "La Favorita." :-)

On the road to Punta Hermosa beach. You actually catch the bus on the freeway!Cool Lima graphiti on the way to the beach.
Our hostal in Punta Hermosa.Front view of our hostal. In Punta Hermosa...trying to work on the tan when I can.
Incredible (and ridiculously cheap) seafood in Punta Hermosa. Approx $6.00 for a dish that would easily run $25 in the states! The malecon in Punta Hermosa.Nice huh? These look like they could be in San Diego, right??You rent the umbrellas and chairs (if you'd like)On the road back to Miraflores in Lima...and Checking in for the 3rd time at Flying Dog Hostal. Seems you can check out you just can't leave!
Crossing into Peru, entering first town of Piura and then onto beach town of Huanchaco.
Friday, March 7 - Monday, March 9.
Crossed into Peru after a 10 hour bus ride from Loja, Ecuador. Pretty uneventful other than I left my adidas hoodie/jacket in the restaurant we ate at (I think-- or on the bus) just before we crossed the border.Central Park in Piura, the town I spent the night in and only a few hours before catching my next bus to Trujillo, Peru and then taxi into Huanchaco.
More Park in Piura.
These folks were standing in line in order to pay their bills; water, electric. This I found out from my taxi driver.
Thanks goodness for US mail or better yet, auto-internet payments!!! We're so spoiled as a country!!!
Ice delivery in Piura.
This looks like Yuma, AZ, EXACTLY. However, it's coastal Peru!

Look close at the mountain...South America doesn't let a chance pass them by to let everyone Christ is coming!Arrived in beach town of Huanchaco just before dark...NICE! A little side note...my silly taxi driver drove me to a different hostal than the one I directed him to. When we got there and I looked at the sign and I asked him what gives?! He replied, "Lo Mismo". (it's the same). No, it's not I said. See, he gets a commission if he brings hospedajes there. I made him turn out and take me to mine. Front row parking at the beach in Huanchaco.
I don't know what these are called but they take beach-goers out for rides in the waves. Here's one going out now.

Now...what cocktail do you think is pictured here? If you guessed Bloody-Mary, you'd be correct...however, it bad to be THE worst bloody mary I've ever had. Yuck...plus, it cost more than my burger and fries!
Boys fishing on the pier. These are what they use to fish with. These particular ones were for sale. No rods and reels for these Peruanos. Huanchaco is the beach getaway for the nearby town of Trujillo. It's their party town and they like to cruise the strip. This girl was trying to get this pelicans photo, but you can tell she was a little scared to get too close. It was really cute. The pelican hung around for the longest time. It was quite the attraction. And modeling tool as well! Adios to Huanchaco!
Welcome to Vilcabamba in southern Ecuador!
March 4-6, 2008

Vilcabamba is home to some of the oldest people on the planet! Something about the negative ions in the air and the perfect combination of minerals in the water. Google it to read more. Japanese scientists actually went there to learn the secrets to longevity. All I know, was that it was a PERFECT place to rest, relax, get a massage, eat well and read. Beautiful and very peaceful. Road into the very small town of Vilcabamba.Longevity walking.
And sitting. :-)

Carol, the owner is the one who's waving. She super sweet and a perfect hostess.
