HUEHUETENANGO- About 2 1/2 hours north of Quetzaltenango
I spent only a night in Huehue, but it's a cute little town with a energy that's infectious.
I also spent a couple hours at the ruins of Zaculeu about 2 1/2 miles outside of Huehue. The church front is much more impressive outside than in. A very large church for such a small square.

Lots of hanging out gets done in Huehue's center plaza.
My hotel in Huehue...about $5.50 usd a night.
Market district in Huehuetenango.
Need a sombrero? They'll cost anywhere from $5 - $15 dollars inside the Municipalidad Market.
A basic carniceria in Huehue's market district.
Everyday, ALL day, this woman chops (with an axe) and sells meat in the market in Huehue. Another woman told me she works very hard! Indeed!!Guatemalan's take their religion, praying and candles seriously!!! A whole store devoted just to candles.

I've NEVER seen vegetables as large as they grow in Guatemala! Gotta be the biggest carrot in the world! :-)

ZACULEU - Ruins just outside of Huehuetenango.
The photo above will no doubt end up being one of my favorite photos.
Traveling sola at times provides certain challenges. One of which, taking photos of yourself when no one is around!
